Rainbow Railroad’s mission is to help LGBTQI people seek refuge from state-enabled violence, murder or persecution. They provide support, information, and help to arrange safe transportation for LGBTQI people to relocate to safer places where they can live their lives in freedom.

The team at Rainbow Railroad asked me to design a brochure outlining the work they do and emphasize the impact their organization has around the world. The main challenge for this was to make the brochure appealing, contemporary, not boring, but to still have a more serious tone.

Their existing brand helped to achieve this balance through a simple pink, white, and black colour palette, as well as a sans-serif typeface. The tunnel icon from their logo was used in a “path” motif, connecting images of people, places, and methods of transportation. This reflects the “railroad” of people they help around the work.

All together, this brochure has a striking visual impact while maintaining a sense of gravitas.
